A perceptual region is an area that is defined by feelings and prejudices that may or may not be true. It is a representation of how people think about or perceive a particular region based on factors that may not necessarily reflect the truth. For instance, the concept of the Bible Belt or the Hillbilly region are examples of perceptual regions.A region is based on the shared feelings and attitudes of the people who live in the area. Perceptual regions reflect the cultural identity of the people in the region. The boundaries of perceptual regions are not always distinct, as they may be perceived differently from person to person.
