From that point on, Black residents simply weren't welcome ...Black Bloomfield. Bloomfield is by far the blackest town in CT, with more than 50% of the population black. The reason this came to be is incredibly racist, with tactics such as neighborhood covenants, redlining, block-busting, and the actions of real estate agents pushing white people to West Hartford and Avon and black people to Bloomfield.
