It's basically a garage door remote control with a WiFi interface and very simple to install. It will work independently from Homelink, so you could certainly have both and just not connect your Tesla to MyQ. I use Tesla mate to send data to home assistant via mqtt. Then I can use the Tesla device tracker in HA to know when the car enters and leaves the home zone. Then I have an automation that triggers to tell MyQ to open the garage.
