I don't believe there's an "objectively best build" since every kind of build is viable in PvE and PvP. Some might be easier to use than others, but none are unusable. So far as casting goes, there have really only been 4 game-changing nerfs. TryFistButHol, my dual caestus character runs in Vengarls armour and uses a mix of +10 uninfused and +10 poison caestus as needed. Stats are something like 40 VIG, 30 END, 30 VIT , 40 STR, 40 DEX. 30 ADP (didn't level ATN,FAI or INT). I started knight but i don't think that's the optimal class.
